Partners within the Euro.GEO Project consortium have significant experience in developing and in using different types of Distance Learning Environment. Products where communications, information delivery and student activities are facilitated through a secure Web-based environment are regularly in use. However developing on-line teacher interaction has been rather unsuccessful so far (NGfL, 1998), Thus any developments where such interaction can be enhanced will be beneficial.

Euro.GEO Project anticipates four main components:

i. information and searchable facilities
ii. database and multimedia components
iii. a communications or networking area, where teachers are able to interact with others
iv. links to national geographical associations who are able to further disseminate the project outcomes

Euro.GEO will use the existing structures within the existing Euro.GEO Network to collect suitable social, cultural and economic information for all represented European countries.

Technically, a dedicated Web server will be serviced by the Web Master with CD ROM production used to widen access to those less technologically developed European countries
