Specifically, the Euro.GEO Project will:

  • establish Euro.GEO as an educational Web site for comparative information about the Geography of Europe, geographical curriculum and the European Dimension
  • develop curriculum materials to support teaching the Geography of the European Dimension by using the World Wide Web and CD ROM technology.
  • promote and co-ordinate geography teaching resources in various languages.
  • transfer the experience of good practice of ODL technology into the classroom, by involving teachers and encouraging the implementation of using on-line-resources in schools.
  • create a database of European geographical curricula which would support the mobility of professionals (teachers and lecturers)

This project therefore seeks to encourage greater understanding of innovation by involving subject experts from different countries through the European Network, EUROGEO. It will involve designing, developing and testing new methods and educational resources across Europe, converting some existing materials that are not presently readily accessible for classroom use into an interactive package. It will also provide access to new materials and information sources. Euro.GEO, through its Web site, will provide access to this information and through its conferences it will support dissemination across the entire European education space. It will consist of activities supporting the exchange of ideas in Open and Distance Learning and the use of MICT in education.
