The principal aim of Euro.GEO is to promote the European Dimension through geographical education. It is concerned with improving the electronic resource base for teaching in and about the countries of Europe. In this way it contributes towards the development of MINERVA goals while targeting the European Dimension. By doing so, it seeks to encourage a greater European awareness through the medium of Geography and to increase mutual knowledge and understanding of the countries of Europe and their geography curricula.
The Euro.GEO project responds to the objective of promoting ODL in many different ways:

  • it will encourage considerable co-operation across Europe between organisations and institutions working in the field of ODL and the training and support of geography teachers. In Euro.GEO partners will work with the European Network of Geography Teachers' Associations, with teachers and with schools.
  • Euro.GEO will introduce relevant, high quality, distance learning materials in support of the European Dimension in the teaching of Geography in schools, thus strengthening the European Dimension therein.
  • the project seeks to develop a valuable information source for European Geography teachers using suitable Web (and also CD ROM) technologies.
  • Euro.GEO will also provide, for teachers, information about geography curricula across Europe. This will support the wider aim of European mobility in the teaching profession.
