Teaching
about Themes
Geographical themes provide the context
to study about the people and places in
Europe. So activities and issues with
a European dimension can and should be
developed. Learning about Europe ought
also to reflect topics of current European
interest, such as enlargement, immigration,
transport, energy, rural change and the
environment. Studies should explore the
similarities and differences between places
on specific issues such employment, European
heritage, city growth, regional redevelopment
and landscape protection. Studying current
geographical processes and patterns at
different scales should also take place.

about approaches that might be used (Teaching
